World Youth Symphony Orchestra, JoAnn Falletta conductor – Interlochen Arts Festival – July 10, 2016


The World Youth Symphony Orchestra returns to the Kresge stage for a second performance under the direction of JoAnn Falletta. Selections include Enesco’s Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1, Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis, and three excerpts from Die Meistersinger by Wagner.

JoAnn Falletta currently serves as artistic director for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, a position she has held for the past 15 years. Beyond her commitment to the Buffalo Philharmonic, Falletta is in high demand as a guest conductor, appearing at the helm of internationally recognized orchestras such as the London Symphony, China National Symphony and Orchestra National de Lyon. Falletta is also a leading advocate of youth musicians and women conductors.

The King’s Singers – Interlochen Arts Festival – July 11, 2016


Experience harmonies fit for a king courtesy of vocal sextet The King’s Singers. Renowned as one of the world’s premier vocal ensembles, The King’s Singers command a diverse repertoire ranging from Renaissance madrigals to pop hits with impeccable quality. Constantly in demand for performances worldwide, The King’s Singers will perform a program of of uniquely American music, focusing on versions of American folk tunes and the amazing songs of The Great American Songbook, at Interlochen’s own Corson Auditorium.

Alongside The King’s Singers’ usual mix of folk songs and contemporary works by some of the choral stars of the United States, such as Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen, will be their takes on the songs of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen and Richard Rogers.

Andre Villoch – The Homestead – Music on the Mountain – July 13, 2017


The Homestead is proud to welcome back a longtime friend and favorite, Andre Villoch. Famed for his dynamic vocal range and vivacious onstage wit and charm, Andre is authentic, soulful and gritty. He’s known for his lyrical prowess by delivering satisfying melodies about life, love and the allure of music. With roots in opera, pop, gospel, bluegrass and folk, his songs bear the mark of rich heritage of musical inspiration.

A mainstay on the Michigan folk and Indie circuit, Andre made the state of Maine his new home for a few years; we’re thrilled to have him back in the mitten!

The concert begins at 7pm. Transportation via chair lift or six-passenger golf cart begins at 6pm. Cash bar and snacks are available for purchase. Coolers are not permitted.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Mountain Flowers Lodge.

INTERLOCHEN, MI— Tears for Fears’ Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith regrettably announce today that they have to cancel their summer run of dates in the US to include theatres and festivals – including their show at Interlochen Center for the Arts on July 13 – due to family illness.

Get ready to shout! Join British pop/rock band Tears for Fears for a night of classic hits and new music. Since the band’s inception in 1981, Tears for Fears has produced three platinum-selling albums and two Billboard No. 1 hits.

Best known for their songs “Shout” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” Tears for Fears continues to produce new music and excite audiences around the globe.

Béla Fleck & Chris Thile – Interlochen Arts Festival – July 14, 2016


Bluegrass icon Béla Fleck and Chris Thile, a modern master of the mandolin and MacArthur “Genius Grant” winner, come together onstage at Interlochen for an evening of essential American bluegrass. This powerhouse performance is sure to delight music fans of all ages.

Fleck, the world’s premier banjo player, has virtually reinvented the image and the sound of the banjo through a remarkable performing and recording career that has taken him all over the musical map and on a range of solo projects and collaborations.

Multiple Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur Fellow Thile, a member of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, is a mandolin virtuoso, composer and vocalist. He has performed at Interlochen numerous times, including the 2009 debut of a concerto he composed for mandolin and orchestra, titled Ad astra per alas porci.

Two of the world’s premier plucked-string instrumentalists collaborate in this one-of-a-kind performance.
