Lake Michigan’s spectacular vistas make this a resort unlike others. The color of the water–sometimes blue, sometimes turquoise, sometimes golden–is one reason why. Another is relaxing along the water. You and each member of your family or group can do as much or as little as you like.
That’s why this resort is celebrated, both near and far, as The Homestead, America’s Freshwater Resort.
Lake Michigan Resort
Though expansive, the resort is quite simple to picture.
It was designed, built and is managed to help you enjoy the Most Beautiful Place in America.
On its west are miles of sandy beaches on which you can walk for hours. The beaches are soothing by day, spectacular at sunset, remarkably romantic on starry nights. To its east is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, the area chosen by the viewers of ABC’s Good Morning America as “The Most Beautiful Place in America.”
Within the resort, neighborhoods separated by nature provide a wide range of high-quality accommodations. Some are perfect for couples, some for families, and some for groups. All are beautiful. There are shops, restaurants, and recreational facilities. There are places for weddings, , and meetings. All of them are staffed by caring and attentive professionals.
You could be pampered at the spa or salon, sit by a pool, play a round of golf or hike in the National Lakeshore. Or, you could teach your kids to swim, play tennis or golf, ski or snowboard.

Hillside Homestead is a small farm in Suttons Bay, Michigan. I enjoy the homesteading life, with a big slant to historic methods. At this time I’m sharing some adventures here and on social media. I’ve been taking some time to myself and reorganizing the way I do things. More might be available in the future.
Thanks, Susan Odom

Clean lines paired with a palette of black & white with accents of charcoal grey, and splashes of greenery. I LOVE vibrant color in design, but there is something so classic about a more modern-minimalist design.
Classic design never goes out of style. Trends are fun & lend a sense of adventure & creativity, but will they stand the test of time?
When mapping out your vision, try to remember not to focus on being on trend. You are unique, you have your own style. Map out your vision to be something even your future self will be in love with.
In May the Riverside Inn hosted Killarney Mountain Lodge Chef Kay Bonsu and his staff for Chefs Across the Great Lakes: a collaborative dinner exchange benefitting a charity of choice for the hosting restaurant. The Riverside Inn chose the Great Lakes Culinary Institute to receive the proceeds of the evenings 5-course meal with wine pairings from goodharborwine. Tomorrow, all female team Katlyn, Kate and Chris head to Ontario for the second half of this great program. One week from today our crew will be taking over Blu in Glen Arbor for a special four course pop-up dinner! In years past we would never have been able to leave the restaurant in the middle of the summer, but given the circumstances we are thrilled for the opportunity to assemble our team in the beauty that is glenarborblu before reopening our own doors. This dinner has two seatings, one at 5pm and another at 8pm, and while reservations are limited for both, only a table for two remains for the later seating. For more information including menu details or to make reservations call 231.256.9971 or visit the link in our bio....

Reminder : tomorrow is the last day of our Coffee Cart for the summer. Stop in for one last iced chai & breakfast cookie while you can. Open 8am - 11am....
