💯… MIhappy place. This view… it’s stunning. It leaves me in awe every time.

I awakened in the middle of the night and am struggling to get back to sleep. So I’m going to think of this beautiful view - one of my most favorites in the world, and take some deep yogi breaths and ruminate on the sound of the waves, the fresh air, the warm sand, the wind, etc.

another northern michigan summer is in the books, and somehow this one was even better than the last ☀️ chaotic kayak trips, movie nights on the vcr, consuming a near dangerous amount of lake trout and lots of iced coffee, spending our paychecks at the traverse city antique stores, learning web design, beating our high scores in pinball, outrunning an enraged swan on a jet ski, running into tim allen, picking fresh fruit whenever we could, late night ice cream runs, and many, many hikes to the top of sugarloaf made for a summer i’ll treasure forever 🤍

Life is generally healthiest in Northwest Michigan and outside Detroit, in Livingston, Washtenaw and Oakland counties, according to a new data-heavy analysis by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Seven of the top 10 ranked counties from the report are found in those two regions, with Leelanau County finishing No. 1 overall for the fifth consecutive year. Wayne County, the state’s most-populated county, was ranked last.

The report calculates the rankings based on a combination of two broad categories – health outcomes and health factors – calculated through a collection of secondary categories. Each of those secondary categories are an aggregation of more than 50 third-tier subcategories.

Originally from Leelanau County, Michigan, Nancy’s been calling Breckenridge home for 11 years and has been part of The Crown family for 10! She first met our owners, Sara and Brett, at a Breckenridge distillery bottling party (ha!), and we’ve been lucky to have her ever since.
Fun fact: Nancy once swam in all 5 Great Lakes in just 24 hours! 🌊
In the winter, you’ll find her skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, hitting the trails on her mountain bike. 🚵‍♀️
Her favorite drink to make? A lavender oat milk latte. 🌸
To drink? A Cubano latte. ☕
And for a bite, she loves The Magnum on an Asiago bagel. 🥯

📍Traverse City, Michigan is a dream for someone living in a landlocked state to be able to drive just a few hours and get your fill of lake time.

Here are my TC recommendations:
(𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 for when you visit!)

🚲 DO:
- Definitely get outdoors on your trip to Traverse City. We took a bike, kayak, and brewery tour with kayakbikebrew all the way around downtown TC.
- Next, we checked out the Leelanau Peninsula on our bike and winery tour with theoriginalgtbiketours and it was really fun! The bike trails were really peaceful.
- Play sand volleyball in Clinch Park.
- Watch sunsets at Sunset Park Beach.
- Play arcade games at thecoinslottc.

🍷DRINK:
- On the brewery tour, we visited: rightbrainbrewery and they had SO many options so I recommend the 6 beer flight to sample. We also visited rarebirdbrewpub and silversprucebrewing and both were delicious.
- During the wine and bike tour, we started in Suttons Bay and saw 3 different wineries (you could choose to visit more as well): shadylanecellars, Mawby mibubbly, and blackstarfarms. Then, we stopped to grab a beer at hoplotbrewingco, which was a really nice outdoor space.

🌮 EAT:
- For a nice dinner, Amical (amical_tc), Red Ginger (redginger_tc), Poppycocks (poppycockstc), and taproot_cider_house.
- For a casual bite thelittlefleet for an outdoor space with a few food vendors.
- During our wine tour, we stopped at a small cheese shop and it was so delicious leelanaucheese.
- For dessert, we had cherry pie at gtpie, and ice cream at both moomersicecream and milkandhoneytc.

🎣 SEE:
- Explore Fish Town in the Leelanau Peninsula. It's a small fishing village full of locals. We ate at restaurant called The Cove which had an incredible smoked whitefish dip!
- Obviously, check out the nearby Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (sleepingbearnps) and hike to Pyramid Point. You may want to download some offline Google maps for this area, as we didn't have very good service.

my first theme park performing contract with halloween horror nights at universal studios

many late nights of scaring with the tooth fairies, brides of dracula, ghosts of hill house, creatures of carey, ohio, and she-devils of case files

getting my scuba certification!

continuing to manage the homestead’s social media marketing remotely

so many friendships that will last a lifetime 🥰

being featured on universal’s instagram not once, but THREE times!

2 semesters at rosen (and only 2 left 😳)

and finally getting the call that i’m going home to disney as a concierge at the boardwalk ✨

i’m so grateful to have had so many great things come out this past year and so lucky to have the best friends i could ask for by my side. here’s to another year of unexpected triumphs and adventures 🤍
