What a great year for icemancomethtcmi The weather was better than expected and the course handled the rain very well. timberridgeresort always does an amazing job hosting and throws a great after party. carlykmccall was a true champ and stayed home with an ill Lucy (to avoid the weather). A big thank you to bonnie.pappas.3 and skidemonsp for sharing their camper/campsite with everyone to unwind at (and try new tequila 🙃) #icemancometh #traversecity #timberridge #muddy #getoutside #santacruzblur...
GET COLD! by guerrillazen
-
I’m doing a ton of shirtless hikes, polar plunging, and other forms of cold exposure this winter and loving it!
-
This is all to make myself as cold as humanly possible.
-
Why would I do this? For the HEALTH BENEFITS of course!
-
This is not well known, but prolonged cold exposure actually has some serious benefits.
-
1) Immune Boosting
-
Cold exposure increases not only the number of white blood cells (immune cells) but also makes them more active. This results in a stronger, more robust immune system that’s better able to fight off infection.
-
2) Longer Lifespan
-
Studies done on flies showed a SIGNIFICANT extension of lifespan when the flies lived in a cold environment.
-
3) Antioxidant Boost
-
Being cold boosts endogenous glutathione (the master antioxidant) production in the body. This could be responsible for benefit number 2.
-
If you want to see the comprehensive youtube video I made on this where I show the studies then simply visit my youtube and search for it.

Winter is nearly here, which means you'll be seeing more scenes like this in our cold-weather cities. This photo was taken last year in DEN by ramprat_kylecote.
So what exactly is going on here? Kyle explains: "The de-icing trucks in this picture are currently applying type I fluid which cleans the aircraft of ice and snow. The steam you see is caused by the heat of the fluid being heated up to around 180 degrees Fahrenheit. After they finish the application of type I, they move on to type IV fluid, which acts as a barrier to prevent snow build up as they head to takeoff. While it usually takes two trucks to de-ice a plane on a normal cold weather day, we need three or sometimes even four trucks to de-ice during snowfall."...
We signed up for the coveted Iceman Cometh in March. We of course had all the plans of training like crazy, but kids, jobs…life got in the way. So we went out today with the goal to finish. There was mud, rain, and plenty of hills… but there was also fireball at the aid stations, an insane community of bikers, and lots of laughs.
.
We did what we came for today and finished… and oh what a ride it was.🚴🏻♂️

icemancomethtcmi #VittoriaMezcal Victory! Congrats to alexeyvermeulen for taking the WIN! “Going into Iceman with weather predictions showing 35 and raining we knew it was going to be a messy course. I planned on racing the Mezcals, but had a set of Barzo’s setup and ready to go just in case. The course was super muddy for the first 20 miles and then a lot more fast sand for the final 10. I decided to go with the Mezcals because I wanted to have the best tires for when I thought the race would be won. I got the best of both worlds with the Mezcals and It couldn’t have looked better with the white sidewalls either!” #VittoriaIsVictory #PoweredByGraphene #IcemanCometh...

It snowed about 15 minutes after this photo was snapped which was the fitting ending to #IcemanCometh. I joke about “sensations” but my legs were waaaay better than I expected after #shredXvermont this week and virtually no intensity for weeks. Better Iceman yet, the vibe blew away expectations! Alas, with a few too many muddy mechanicals, it wasn’t the day I hoped for. No small shortage of work went into getting me here so I thank jpreynolds83, petesgaragegb, coleshouse, mikebikeswithabeard, jgeran, kschwies, and the whole ridecannondale and srammtb crew for looking out for me. 👊 Sure hope to see y’all next year at icemancomethtcmi! ❄️...
